A representative from Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner's office also discussed the benefits of offering employees financial incentives for maintaining healthy lifestyles.
'Today, YMCAs easily could hold their own against the elite health clubs,' the East Valley Tribune, an Arizona publication, recently reported. 'In fact, in most cases, they may be over the top.'
'There are 14 YMCAs in the Valley...all are fitness meccas,' the article continued. 'Most are complete with swimming pools, racquet and handball courts, weight rooms, aerobics studios and rooms filled with cardiovascular equipment.'
'The YMCAs for the past 50 years have concentrated on more physical fitness,' Vinny Mirizio, the executive director of the Tempe Family YMCA, told the newspaper. 'We can't compete with Bally's for individuals,' he said, explaining why the YMCA targets families.
