Welcome to Get Active!, a new magazine designed specifically for you, the active health club member.
Our goal is simple: to help you maximize your health club experience. Whether you're a beginner or a longtime gymgoer, Get Active! is your owner's manual for the club.
By joining a health club, you've made a life-affirming choice to take control of your own destiny. And by making Get Active! available to you, your gym has made a commitment to you, a promise to provide you with all the tools and resources you need to meet your goals. And whatever your goals - e.g., weight loss, muscle gain, increased energy, greater flexibility, injury rehabilitation, disease prevention, etc. - we are confident that each issue of Get Active! will help you attain the results you crave.
In Get Active! you'll learn about club services and programs that you may not be familiar with, such as yoga, pilates, therapeutic massage, personal training and more. Each issue will deliver nutritional, lifestyle, gear and personal care tips from top experts in the industry - practical strategies that will keep you eating right, looking good and feeling great! You'll also meet "real" people who have made dramatic transformations in the gym. We hope that their stories inspire you, as they did us.
In addition, Get Active! will educate you on important issues that affect your health and your bottom line. We'll explain how you can quickly and easily support initiatives that encourage and reward regular exercise, such as the Workforce Health Improvement Program (WHIP) Act, currently pending before Congress. The WHIP Act would make it easier for companies to subsidize fitness memberships for all of their employees.
The reason to support WHIP is confirmed by headlines every day. A fitness lifestyle is the key to improving everybody’s quality of life. And it's one of the most cost-effective ways towards minimizing the sky-rocketing healthcare costs for millions of Americans. In other words, life is better for those who exercise. Get Active! will help spread the word, and we hope you will, too.
